It's turned out quite easy to configure Eclipse for Mac development using 64bits:
- download the 64bit osx version of eclipse
- start app, download a fresh cut of Debrief using SubClipse
- go into Eclipse preferences, set the compile checker to JDK1.6
- go into Eclipse prefs, set the JRE to use to 1.6
- go into either Debrief.product, or the Run Configuration for the app and set that to 1.6
And everything's just dandy.
